CALDWELL, Idaho — Following the 102nd annual Caldwell Night Rodeo, the city announced Monday the extension of the lease for the beloved event through 2076.
The city said the new 50-year lease shows a commitment to the event that celebrates the spirit of the American West.
The event is recognized as one of the top five outdoor Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association rodeos in the nation, according to the city.
“This is about much more than a lease,” Mayor Eric Phillips said. "It is about preserving a tradition that has helped define Caldwell for generations. We are proud to be part of securing the future of the Caldwell Night Rodeo for the next 50 years and look forward to seeing this tradition continue to grow and thrive.”
The Caldwell Night Rodeo is a Canyon County tradition that began in 1924, drawing thousands of visitors and generating millions of dollars for the local economy each year. The event wrapped up its 102nd event this past weekend.
"The renewal provides a strong foundation for the rodeo’s future while recognizing the important role it plays in Caldwell’s history and community," the city said in a press release. "It also reflects the City’s commitment to supporting events and partnerships that contribute to Caldwell’s quality of life, economic vitality, and sense of place."
