David McGinnis, 29, of Boise has been arrested following a shooting that took place on Palouse Street in south Boise last Thursday.

During their investigation into the shooting, officers served a search warrant in the bedroom of the home where the victim, David McGinnis, was staying. During the search, a report says the officers found a stolen gun and illegal drugs -- including baggies of methamphetamine and cocaine. “The bedroom belonged to McGinnis, who is a felon and prohibited from possessing a weapon. McGinnis was shot following an altercation in the home on Thursday. Upon his release from the hospital Monday, officers arrested McGinnis and booked him into the Ada County Jail,” according to a BPD news release.

McGinnis now faces felonies charges of grand theft, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, possession of a controlled substance with intent to manufacture or deliver, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

Officers have not received any further information about the suspects in Thursday’s shooting -- and the search for them remains ongoing, the release stated.

The suspects are described as two white males driving a silver, older model, two-door car. The windows are potentially damaged or shot out. The car was last seen traveling north on Columbus from Palouse Street.
