Several people are in custody following a pursuit that police say reached speeds of about 100 mph Tuesday afternoon.

It started when an Idaho State Police trooper attempted to pull over the driver of a tan Ford Thunderbird for speeding near the intersection of Discovery Place and Iowa Avenue in Nampa.

Instead, the driver sped away -– leading the troopers on a high-speed chase that wove through east Nampa.

During the pursuit, two vehicles were damaged. “We had reports of one vehicle being struck on the 16th Avenue overpass and another –- and unoccupied parked vehicle –- being struck in the 500 block of 15th Avenue North,” said Nampa Police spokesman Tim Riha. No one was injured in either crash, he said.

The suspect then got onto Interstate 84 and raced eastbound, at reported speeds of about 100 mph.

“We had seven ISP cars and one motorcycle trooper involved in the pursuit,” said Idaho State Police spokesman Tim Marsano.

Troopers were able to stop the vehicle near the Ten Mile Road overpass.

The driver and three occupants of the vehicle were held at gunpoint. They were eventually taken into custody.

Eastbound lanes of the Interstate were closed for about twenty while ISP troopers detained the subjects.

No further details were available.
