Two Kansans are in Elmore County Jail after police allegedly discovered nearly twelve pounds of marijuana inside of a vehicle.

According to police, on March 28th, 2016, an Elmore County Deputy stopped a vehicle on eastbound I-84 near milepost 92.

Sergeant Steve Burnett made contact with the driver, who was later identified as Richard Grant of Shawnee, Kansas, and the passenger identified as Patrick Grant, also of Shawnee, Kansas.

Sgt. Burnett detected the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle and a K-9 unit alerted deputies of the likely presence of drugs in the car.

A search of the vehicle revealed 11.58 pounds of packaged marijuana.

Both father and son were arrested and charged with felony drug trafficking in marijuana. Patrick was additionally charged with misdemeanor possession of MDMA and hash oil.

$4879.00 in cash was seized and investigators that the duo was coming from Oregon and returning to Kansas.

This investigation is ongoing.
