Two children have died following an accident last week in Canyon County.

Ada County Coroner Dotti Owens says Kimberly Vera-Guzman, 9, and Ulises Vera-Guzman, 3, were both passengers in a vehicle that was involved in an accident Thursday night, March 30th at the intersection of Homedale and Farmway Roads in Caldwell.

Kimberly was an unrestrained passenger in the car when the crash occurred, Owens said.

Ulises was restrained in the back seat of the vehicle.

Both children died on April 1st from blunt force trauma, the Coroner stated. They were kept on life support so their organs could be donated.

According to the Idaho State Police, the crash involved two vehicles.

Manuel Vera Gonzalez, 32, of Boise, was traveling westbound on Homedale Road in a 2000 Ford Winstar van, when he failed to stop at a stop sign. Thomas Brase Jr., 56, of Caldwell, was traveling northbound on Farmway Road in a 1999 Dodge Ram 3500 pickup, when his vehicle collided with Vera Gonzalez's van.

A juvenile passenger of Vera Gonzalez's vehicle succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

Brase was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The crash is under investigation.
