A serious two-vehicle accident near Lake Lowell resulted in several injuries and two fatalities. Valeria Lopez of Caldwell died late Sunday night at St. Luke's Medical Center in Boise.  She was only 5 years old.  Her mother, Maria, died on the scene.

The accident happened around 4:45 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Marsing Rd. and Riverside Rd. near Lake Lowell.

Maria Lopez of Caldwell was driving a minivan northbound and failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection, and collided with Cedric Esqueda of Sanger, California who was driving a semi-truck.

Several air ambulances were seen at the site of the accident, as well as officials from Idaho State Police and Canyon County.

Officials say two adults and four children were in the minivan at the time of the incident.  Maria Lopez was declared dead and the remaining occupants were taken by air ambulance to receive medical treatment.

Officials say the semi truck driver was uninjured.

Lanes were blocked for almost 5 hours while crews worked to clear the scene.

Investigators are now searching for a driver they believed witnessed the crash.

The vehicle is described as a Black Dodge Dakota crew cab pickup, with all terrain tires and tinted windows.

In a news release ISP states, "The vehicle was occupied by 3 Hispanic subjects, a male driver and female passenger. This vehicle was last seen leaving the scene northbound on Riverside Rd."
