Nampa Fire Chief Karl Malott remains in serious condition at a Boise hospital,  after he was involved in a motorcycle crash on I-84 near the Sand Hollow exit Saturday.

Malott was eastbound on Interstate 84 driving a Harley Davidson motorcycle around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, when Idaho State Police say he rear-ended a Chevy Malibu, also heading eastbound.

Malott, who was not wearing a helmet at the time, was ejected from the motorcycle and transported by air ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.

The two occupants of the Chevy Malibu were both wearing seatbelts and were uninjured in the crash.

Nampa Mayor Bob Henry released a statement Saturday night, saying, "Fire Chief Karl Malott ... has lots of support, and my prayers are with him for a full recovery."
