Bruce Allen Marchant, 61, is being held in New York on felony charges of murder, rape and kidnapping in connection to the death and disappearance of  Boise woman Sierra Bush. Bush was reported missing in September and was found dead nearly a month later near a creek outside Idaho City in Boise County.

Marchant served a prison sentence after being convicted of assault with intent to commit murder and robbery in Kootenai County in 1987.

According to the Idaho Department of Corrections, Marchant was released on parole in 1992, but was taken back into federal custody after violating parole. Marchant was in federal custody serving his state sentence concurrently with a federal sentence until 1999 when he was returned to IDOC custody.

In 2008, Marchant was released after completing his full sentence.

Marchant was arrested in New York City this week. Boise Police traveled to New York to assist local law enforcement with the arrest.

Marchant is awaiting extradition to face charges in Idaho.

The Boise Police Department says the investigation is still ongoing.
