A Caldwell man has died following a multiple vehicle crash on I-84 near milepost 193 in Oregon.
On November 17th around 6 pm, Oregon State Police from the Pendleton office were informed of a four vehicle crash involving two commercial vehicles and two passenger cars.
The crash occurred after high winds caused a dust storm and reduced visibility in the area.
Around 6:17 pm, troopers from Hermiston were called to a multi-vehicle crash near milepost 192, roughly a mile away from the other crash.
While troopers were working their way through several minor collisions, they discovered that eleven vehicles were involved in the crash covering about a mile of freeway.
A total of five commercial vehicles and six passenger cars were involved as a result of the dust storm.
Multiple people had to be extricated from their vehicles and officers discovered that a commercial truck driver identified as William Hernandez, 47, of Caldwell had died as a result of the collision.
Interstate 84 eastbound remained closed through the night to allow for investigation and cleanup of the crash scene.
