The rain did not keep dozens of people from lacing up their shoes and walking for a cause close to their hearts.
Thursday The Boise Ada County Homeless Coalition hosted their 5th annual walk a mile in my shoes event. The event focused on bringing awareness to the challenges homeless people face in the Treasure Valley.
Organizer Peg Richards said as Thursday whether condition is a perfect example of the struggles homeless people face.
"People who are homeless had to walk here in the rain. They didn't have an umbrella. They don't have gear to keep them warm and dry. We know that some of the shelters are turning people away so tonight these people are gonna be wet and cold," sadi Richards.
Proceeds from the event goes directly back in to the community. 65% of Idaho's homeless population is in the Treasure Valley.
