"Fifty Sandwiches" founder Justin Doering is home after a US tour documenting 72 homeless people -- buying them lunch, getting their story and recording it for the world. "If I have widened people's perspectives on a serious issue that is often overlooked, then I'm happy," says Doering.

Doering put his communications degree to work, fueled by a need to put his understanding of homelessness to a test: documenting the lives of 72 homeless people across the US.

He says he was surprised by their diversity and wants everyone to know it could happen to any one.

"There are a lot of people who it seems like homelessness was their only choice after a life of abuse, or drug addiction, or mental illness.  That's just a result, homelessness," he says.

His Kickstarter project raised more than $10,000, enough for him to travel round trip across the country in a van with camera and laptop and record their stories.

"By the end of the project, if I have changed some opinions then I am happy," he says.

He says he is now seeking a publishing partner to help get their stories out.
