Ada County Sheriff Steve Bartlett held a press conference Thursday afternoon at the scene of an officer involved shooting and house fire.  Sheriff Bartlett confirms to 6 On Your Side three people have died as a result of incident. (Video of the full press conference is available at the end of the article.)

Around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, officers were called to the intersection of Linder and Amity after a 911 call claimed a prowler was in a home.

When officers arrived on scene, a person walked out the door with a long gun. A Kuna Police Officer and Ada County Sheriff's Deputy fired shots at that person who then went back into the home. There were three people in the home at that time.

Around 10:45 p.m. investigators say the house was on fire and the people inside the home were barricaded with the armed man still inside.

By 10:47 p.m. the house was fully engulfed in flames, officers broke two windows and two of the people were able to escape. The other person was not able to get out.

Paramedics treated two of the people at the scene and transported them to the hospital. One person was flown to the Salt Lake City Burn Center, where Sheriff Bartlett says they have succumbed to their injuries.

According to Sheriff Bartlett signs of gasoline was found at the scene.

The home is a total loss. Water from fire retention efforts is making it difficult to collect evidence, according to officials. However we are told two bodies have been found inside the house.

Sheriff Bartlett says they believe the suspect and victims did not know each other.

We have a crew on scene working to get more information.
