Caldwell Police Department officers responded to a report of attempted child enticement on September 16,2017. Witnesses say a heavy set, white man with facial hair and glasses driving a silver 4 door Hyundai car attempted to lure two juvenile females into his car near Kimball Ave.

Witnesses reported seeing the same suspect vehicle driving slowly through the area again on September 23rd and notified police. Soon after, the silver 2002 Hyundai Elantra was located parked in the area of Kimball and Main Street. Officers were able to locate the registered owner, Chad Mclean, at a nearby business. Mclean was interviewed and ultimately arrested for child enticement.

Caldwell police detectives then contacted Twin Falls city police who had also recently asked for the public’s help in locating a child enticement suspect from their jurisdiction who matched Mclean’s description. After interviewing Mclean, Twin Falls police department has also charged him with first-degree stalking and three counts of attempted sexual abuse of a child under the age of 16.

Caldwell Police detectives are still investigating and additional charges may soon follow. Mclean is being held at the Canyon County Jail on the above-listed charges.

Anyone or their child who may have been recently approached by Mclean or a man matching his description is encouraged to contact police.
