Lilly Thompson was born in a homeless shelter in Southern California.

When she was around two years old, her mother was able to get back on her feet thanks to a program at the shelter.

Shortly after, Lilly's mom died of breast cancer and Lilly was adopted by a family in Meridian.

Now, 10 years later, she is going back to the shelter to take a tour and wants to bring baby items with her to help other mothers in need.

"We are going to be buying a whole bunch of gifts," said Lilly. "We're buying like baby bottles, toys, books, clothes, basically anything new. It's important to me because I was actually born in a homeless shelter so it's kinda neat to give back."

A GoFundMe page has already raised more than $1,000.
