Boise State cornerback Tyler Horton's career performance in Saturday's 31-28 win over Washington State was recognized Monday as he was named Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week.

The honor is the first of Horton's career. The last time a Bronco claimed the conference's weekly defensive honor was Oct. 27, 2014, when STUD end Kamalei Correa was recognized.

Horton got the Broncos out in front in the opening minutes of Saturday night's contest, making his first-career interception on Washington State's opening drive and returning it 85 yards for the game's opening score.

“We Came out with a lot of energy and they were driving and then for us to make that play you felt like the sideline and everybody was getting amped.  This is what we live for it is what we want, said Cornerback Tyler Horton.
