Sullivan Bomb Leads To Another Boise State Walk-

Posted

Sophomore Makenzie Sullivan smacked a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh Saturday at Dona Larsen Park to give Boise State a 6-5 win over Montana and its third win via walk-off home run this season.

Boise State (6-17) went into the seventh trailing by a run after Montana had scored twice in the top of the sixth to take a 5-4 lead. The Broncos only needed three batters to finish the comeback, as Teauna Hughes led off with a walk and was sacrificed to second by Kayla Clausen before Sullivan teed off on an offering from Montana pitcher Meggie Reitz, sending a towering shot out to left-center for the win. It was Sullivan’s second homer of the season and capped a day in which she reached base on three of her four plate appearances, drawing a pair of walks along with the round-tripper.

The teams will meet again in a doubleheader Sunday to conclude the 2016 SpringHill Suites Invitational, with the first game set for a 10 a.m. start.
