Redshirt senior punter Sean Wale was named as a candidate for the Ray Guy Award, given annually to the nation’s top punter.
Wale, who was also named a William V. Campbell Trophy semifinalist earlier in October, has been enjoying a career year for the Broncos in 2016, ranking 14th in the country with a 45.0 yards-per-punt average.
The La Habra, Calif. native has dropped 12 of his punts this year inside the opponent’s 20-yard line, with 17 being fair-caught. Eight of his punts have traveled at least 50 yards with a longest of 58.
Wale was named Mountain West Special Teams Player of the Week back on Sept. 26 following a stellar performance at Oregon State in which he averaged 46.5 yards on six punts with three landing inside the 20 in the 38-24 win over the Beavers.
