Media days are underway in Las Vegas as we count down to the start of college football season. While it's the Mountain West Media Days taking place in Sin City there was talk of another conference as well. The Big 12 Conference.
The seemingly never-ending debate over conference expansion has surged back into the headlines as the Big 12 reportedly looks into the possibility of adding teams.
Mountain West Commissioner Craig Thompson discussed the issue briefly today while speaking with the media.
Boise State's name of course is always mentioned when expansion talk pops up.
Thompson says nobody knows what the Big 12 is going to do but having teams from the Mountain West mentioned in expansion rumors isn't necessarily a bad thing.
"If you make a presumption that they do expand we have some candidates, but in a way that's reflective and positive that we have institutions that garner that type of interest," Thompson said.
Thompson went on to say that some teams in the Mountain West have reached out to the conference office to say they've expressed interest in a move but would not name those schools.
