Boise State junior goalkeeper Janelle Flores was named Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 3-9, the conference announced Monday. Flores led the Broncos to four crucial points over the weekend.
Flores made a career-high 11 saves Friday, against San José State in a 0-0 double-overtime draw. The 11 saves are the most in a shutout in Boise State history and the most in any match since 2010. She made six saves in diving fashion.
Flores and the Broncos begin a four-match road trip Friday, at San Diego State. The Broncos will take on the Aztecs, New Mexico, UNLV and Nevada before returning home for the regular-season finale against Utah State (Oct. 28).
