Redshirt sophomore Sandra Collantes was named the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference (MRGC) Specialist of the Week for her performance this past weekend in the tri-meet against Southern Utah and San José State. The Broncos (197.325) set a team score school record in defeating the Thunderbirds (196.275) and the Spartans (195.350) on Friday night in Taco Bell Arena.
Collantes earned a 9.925 on floor to tie for the event victory with teammate Maddie Krentz. The Lima, Peru native helped the Blue and Orange to a season-high 49.375 in the event. The honor is Collantes’ third of the season.
No. 15 Boise State will now set their sights on hosting the MRGC Championships this Saturday, March 19 at 6 p.m. at Taco Bell Arena.
The undefeated Broncos (12-0, 5-0 MRGC) enter the championships as the defending champions, winning last year at Denver with a score of 196.625, knocking off the host Pioneers 196.275.
