Boise State Head Coach Bryan Harsin commented on backup tight end David Lucero’s suspension from the team for the first time since his arrest last Tuesday.
Boise Police arrested Lucero on a felony charge of attempted strangulation after they responded to a fight last Monday Night. Witnesses told police Lucero and a woman were arguing when it became physical.
The redshirt freshman already pleaded guilty to minor in possession of alcohol earlier this year. He has appeared in nine games this year and has four catches for 63 yards as the fifth man in the tight end rotation.
“Take the football out of it, we talk so much about life and real life situations and have people com here and talk about that to them. It's hard on our football team when something like that happens and you got a guy that's no longer part of our team in whatever capacity,” Harsin said.
Lucero will stay on the team with a scholarship through his court case but will not participate in team activities.
