MCCALL, Idaho — Some local athletes that are no strangers to taking on life's most difficult challenges took to the slopes in McCall for a 3-day Challenged Athletes Nordic skiing training camp.

“it was awesome. This was super fun. This sport is amazing,” said Lucas Onan, CAF athlete.

Although the pandemic has forced the camp into small groups, these athletes do not let it slow them down.

For most of the adaptive athletes, it was their first-time Nordic skiing.

“Ripping downhill, haha, and getting some speed, and I would say using my body to accomplish something was awesome," said Jordan Valentine, CAF athlete. "I enjoy being able to see the distance because it feels more tangible than just the baby steps I have been doing in my recovery.”

CAF is hosting more Nordic skiing clinics and training camps throughout Idaho.
