Miquelle Askew scored 23 points Sunday afternoon to reach 1,000 in her career and lift Boise State to an 84-77 non conference women’s basketball victory over visiting Concordia in Taco Bell Arena. Askew went 8-of-13 from the floor and 7-of-10 from the free-throw line to move her to 1,002 career points, the 17th Bronco all-time to reach the milestone.
The Broncos shot 63 percent from the floor in the first 20 minutes and were led by Askew with 10 of her 23 points coming in the first half. The win boosted BSU above the .500 mark at 5-4 for the season.
Boise State finished the afternoon shooting 52 percent (32-62) from the floor, 31 percent (4-13) from beyond the arc and 80 percent (16-20) from the free-throw line. The Broncos out rebounded the Cavaliers 36-to-31 and held a 18-to-8 advantage in second chance points.
Boise State will take the week off for finals before returning to action next weekend on the road at Seattle U on Saturday and at Eastern Washington the following Monday (Dec. 21) to close the nonconference schedule.
