What a season its been for the Boise State Volleyball Team. The Broncos are getting set to play in the NCAA tournament for the first time ever.
The Mountain West will have three teams competing in the national tournament. As the Broncos are joined by UNLV and Colorado State. Boise State has a wealth of talent this year on and off the court.
Six Broncos received Mountain West postseason honors and Head Coach Shawn Garus added his second-straight Mountain West Coach of the year award after guiding his team to a 25-6 overall record.
"It speaks to the level of athlete that we have been able to recruit here for the last four or five years. I think we have a good plan for success for each of our individual's players and I'm happy to see them recognized with those awards," said, Head Coach Shawn Garus.
The Broncos will face Western Kentucky in the First Round at Stanford University and it will be the first meeting ever between WKU and Boise State.
"They don't know anything about us we don't anything about them. It will be just a volleyball game and we just have to prepare for it like it is any another match,” said, Junior Outside hitter Sierra Nobley.
BSU has only one senior on the squad but Coach Garus says that has given the team's underclassmen plenty of playing time this season. That experience has prepared them to handle anything the tournament throws their way.
"I think we will match up pretty well and I'm excited to just go check them out and see what they are all about. Every team that goes to the tournament is good you just never know how far you can go so we are just looking forward to just taking it one step at a time," said, Senior Middle Blocker Maddy O'Donnell.
Boise State is ranked 29th in the NCAA RIP and Rich Kerns RPI. The match with the Hilltoppers is set for 5:30 pm on Friday.
