What a day for Boise state running phenom Allie Ostrander has she finished her freshman season winning the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the outdoor national championship Hayward Field in Eugene Oregon.
She finished the race just under 10 minutes and was five seconds ahead of the next competitor. The Alaskan native becomes the first freshman to win the NCAA steeplechase since 2006.
Also with her efforts, she becomes the third Bronco to become to win a national championship.
She followed that performance up with a 4th place finish in the 5,000 meter afterward.
It's worth noting Ostrander teammate Clare O'Brien who is also a freshman finished 17th in the 5,000 meter.
