Brooke Pahukoa scored 27 points but it was not enough to carry the Broncos as Boise State lost another heartbreaker, this time to Fresno State 62-57 on the road. Boise State has now lost six games this season all by five points or less as the Broncos move to 8-6 overall and 1-2 in Mountain West Conference play.
The Broncos led by as many as 15 points 32-17 with 3:32 to play in the second quarter and by 11, 34-23, at half but could not hold it as the Bulldogs came back in the second half out scoring the Broncos 39-23.
Fresno State shot 41.5 percent (22-53) in the game, 36.4 percent (4-11) from the arc and 53.8 percent (14-26) from the free-throw line. The Bulldogs rally was aided greatly by they performance on the glass out rebounding the Broncos 26-to-12 in the second half for a game advantage of 42-to-34. They also held a 30-to-26 edge in points in the paint.
Four Bulldogs reached double-figure points led by Bego Faz Davalos with 13 to go with 12 rebounds and five blocks. Joining Faz Davalos with a double-double was Shauqunna Collins with 12 points and 10 boards.
Next up for Boise State is a home game Wednesday night against the Nevada Wolf Pack at 7 p.m. in Taco Bell Arena.
