Boise’s own Brian Scott heads to Charlotte this weekend for one of the biggest NASCAR faces of the year. This is a special race for Scott, his car will bear the name of a fallen service member on the windshield.

That name? John Borbonus. He was Scott's lacrosse teammate when he attended Boise high school. Borbonus served in the army until his death in 2007, when a bombing in Iraq happened. Scott says there is no better way to honor his friend and his friends family than when he races.

“It's always been a special bond with Nascar and the military, it’s always worked really well. [I’m] very much looking forward to the race and seeing John’s name on the car. They have all been telling me: ‘we feel like this is going to be your best race and everything is going to go very well and you guys are going to be fast!’ They're all excited” said Scott

If you want to watch Brian Scott race this Sunday, tune in to Fox 9. The pre-race is starting at 3:30 and the race is scheduled to start around 4 pm.
