Football season still might be a few months away but it's never too early to discuss early top 25 rankings.  Athlon Sports has the Broncos ranked in the top 20 to start the year and they also expect the blue and orange to win the Mountain West title and make their 4th trip to a New Year six bowl game.

It's not a bad projection with the Broncos returning 15 starters which include their starting quarterback Brett Rypien.

The gunslinger should have extra protection under center as four offensive lineman return. On defense, the team returns 9 starters even with the loss of Leighton Vander Esch.  It's worth noting nearly every preseason college football ranking has Boise State in the top 25. The highest coming from USA today at 14th.

At the spring game coach, Harsin was addressed the preseason rankings and he says the team isn't paying attention to it.

“We all know at the end of the year that's when it really matters and we have a long ways to go.  I think the challenge for this team is the leadership and it has to keep group the nucleus focused on what we are doing and what really matters to our success," said Head Coach Bryan Harsin.

The Vegas Insider has put out their betting lines for the opening weekend of the college football season and the site has the Broncos as a 9 point favorite against Troy.  The Broncos beat the Trojans last year 24 to 13.

The Mountain West Conference was the only group of 5 that didn't see a head coaching change after last year.  Athlon Sports is listing the conferences best coaches ahead of the 2018 season.

San Diego state's rocky long takes the top spot in the poll but Bryan Harsin isn't that far behind. Coach Harsin checks in at number 2.  The poll says that Harsin was the perfect replacement for Chris Petersen who left for Washington.

The Broncos are 42-12 under Harsin and have claimed two mountain west titles since 2014.
