Road closures coming to downtown Boise for the Idaho Potato Drop

BOISE — The annual Idaho Potato Drop that will be at midnight on January 1st and is expected to draw more than 5,000 people to downtown Boise. Road closures will start on Friday, December 28th.

Starting Friday after 3 p.m. Capitol Boulevard between Bannock and Jefferson will be closed.

Saturday December 29th after 8 a.m., Jefferson between 6th and 8th Streets and Bannock between 6th and Capitol will be closed.

Starting after 4 p.m. on Saturday, the Capitol Street closure will extend south from Bannock to Idaho. Traffic on Main and Idaho will not be impacted. The Bannock closure will be extended to encompass Bannock from 6th to 8th Streets.

Traffic in this area will see minor delays on Saturday and on Sunday, December 30th until 11 p.m. Sunday night. After 11 p.m.

Sunday, expect significant delays and heavy pedestrian traffic. That is expected to last through Tuesday, January 1st.
