With summer break starting earlier than ever for many kids this year, it’s probably safe to say you’ve already heard the words “I’m bored.” And, unfortunately, you still have at least two months of sitting at home together to go.
While there are plenty of free kids shows to stream and educational tools online, there is no replacement for good old fashioned books. And this summer, getting your children to read will be easier thanks to Pizza Hut and their new summer reading program, Camp Book It.
The Book It program usually runs from October to March, but with summer plans looking different for families this year, the pizza chain decided to turn it into a camp and hold it now as well.
Pizza Hut will be rewarding readers all summer long with, you guessed it — free pizza! All you have to do is sign up for the program, which is free, then keep track of your kids’ reading for June, July and August on their website. The goal is automatically set to 20 minutes a day, five days a week, but you can extend the goals if you wish.
Any type of reading counts — printed books, magazines, eBooks — as long as they’re reading. When kids meet their monthly reading goal, they’ll receive a virtual badge and a free one-topping Personal Pan Pizza.
The program will also give listless kids book recommendations and fun activities each week, like calendars to help them keep track of their reading.
Parents who homeschool and teachers of students grades K-6 can also still enroll in the normal Book It program beginning in September and run for the 2020-21 school year.
Teachers and parents can set a goal for the students and once the goal is reached, can give them a certificate for free pizza. Which topping will your little one be ordering?
