Oregon man arrested for burglarizing an Army Surplus store

BONNEVILLE, OR — Bonneville County Sheriff's Deputies arrested a man Thursday evening for breaking into and damaging merchandise inside an Army Surplus store.

Deputies said they were called to an alarm at the Army Surplus Store, and upon arrival met with a store employee who could hear someone inside the building. Police said the front doors had been broken open and they could hear someone yelling and breaking things inside the building.

Police said they were able to take James M. Summers III, of Oregon, into custody without incident. According to police, Summers told them he had used marijuana and methamphetamine and thought people were after him.

Deputies said they were able to search the building and found no other suspects inside. Store employees said numerous items of merchandise were damaged and destroyed inside the building at an estimated cost of over $5000.

According to police, Summers was transported to the Bonneville County Jail where he was booked for burglary and felony malicious injury to property as well as misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
