CALDWELL, Idaho — For many of us, our pets are like family members, so when one turns up missing it can be devastating.

That's why the West Valley Humane Society in Caldwell is using a new technology to help dog or cat owners.

It's called "Finding Rover" and it uses facial recognition. The brand new technology isn't very widespread yet--West Valley is one of only a few humane societies in Idaho and even the nation to use the technology.

If you'd like to register your pet, all you have to do is upload your pet's photo, enter a few details about your pet, and enter your name, email address, and zip code.

The program also features dogs and cats who are available for adoption.
