The Idaho Transportation Department has canceled this weekend’s planned Interstate 84 paving and lane restrictions in Canyon County due inclement weather being forecast.
Paving is scheduled to resume the weekend of June 16-19.
“The lane reductions were part of ITD’s work to repave I-84 between Nampa and Caldwell. ITD scheduled the majority of construction during the four weekends in June to keep I-84 open during the weekday commute,” said ITD spokeswoman Jennifer Gonzalez.
Construction on this section of I-84 was accelerated after harsh winter weather caused the pavement to deteriorate more quickly than anticipated, officials said.
The project will prolong the pavement life -- until additional work can be done to that stretch of the Interstate.
