A 22-year-old man who was fishing on the Snake River lost his footing and has not been seen since, according to the Ada County Sheriff’s office.
Ada County Sheriff's office said they received a call just before 8p.m. this evening that the man was in about waist-deep water when he fell in. Witnesses said he did resurface about 15 feet down the river, but then he went under again. Boise Fire did have a rescue boat combing the river and a helicopter searching for any signs of the man.
Authorities say it is not clear at this point to call it a body recovery operation even though it has been a few hours. They say that because the river is so wide if he was able to make his way out of the river, they may not have found him just yet. At around 10pm, the search was called off. Officials say the man was not wearing a life jacket.
