After receiving eleven inches of snow at Tamarack Mountain Resort, officials set up explosives to help reduce the risk of avalanches for skiers and snowboarders.
Using a permit approved by the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Bureau (ATF), explosives are placed at high risk areas including the north ridge of the summit where cornices form due to wind.
