MERIDIAN, Ida. — Valley Regional Transit (VRT) is seeking final public comment on proposed fare increases.

The objective of the fare increases is to have fares cover most of the cost of services consumed. The last fare increase in Ada County was in 2003 while in Canyon County, the last fare increase was in 2008.

VRT has scheduled two open houses/public hearings to collect comment:

· Tuesday, July 23, Nampa Public Library, Conference Room B. The open house is from 5-6:30 p.m. and the public hearing will begin at 6:30 p.m.

· Wednesday, July 24, Collister Branch of the Boise Library, Sycamore Community Room. The open house is from 5-6:30 p.m. and the public hearing will begin at 6:30 p.m.

More details about the proposed fare policy changes can be viewed here. If you cannot attend the open houses/public hearings, you can still provide comment via a survey on the fare changes webpage or by sending comments to info@valleyregionaltransit.org. The deadline for providing comment is Thursday, July 24.

Valley Regional Transit staff and the VRT Board will review any public comment and the Board may update the fare increases based on this input. The VRT Board is scheduled to vote on any fare increases at its August 5 meeting. Any fare changes would be implemented October 1, 2019.
