A man is arrested after a knife is pulled on a store employee.

Shortly before noon Monday, Meridian Police officers responded to the Kohls department store near Ustick and Eagle Roads on a shoplifting call.

But the suspect had already taken off when police arrived.

With help from the Ada County Sheriff’s Office and the Boise Police Department, officers set up a perimeter and searched the area.

A short time later, they located and arrested a suspect –- identified as Aaron Moritz, 26, of Boise.

Officers located him in front of a local restaurant in the 3500 block of North Eagle Road, where he was arrested without incident about twenty minutes after the original crime was reported, said Meridian Police Deputy Chief Tracy Basterrechea.

The man was injured when he jumped into a dumpster, Basterrechea added. He was treated at a local hospital, then booked into the Ada County Jail for aggravated assault and burglary
