A Nampa man was transported by ground ambulance to a hospital with injuries he suffered as a result of an accident involving his car and a semi tractor-trailer rig.
It happened shortly after 8 a.m. Thursday on Highway 78, near Reynolds Creek Road, about twenty miles south of Marsing.
According to the Owyhee County Sheriff’s Office, Gerald McFadden, 85, had successfully passed one semi on a long “straightaway” stretch of Highway 78. As he returned to his lane of travel, he realized another semi was directly in front of him. The semi driver had slowed to make a turn.
In an effort to avoid hitting the semi in front of him, McFadden swerved, but the front of his car struck the rear of the rig, according to investigators.
Deputies say McFadden was responsive after the accident. They say his injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
Deputies blocked Reynolds Creek Road for some time following the accident.
Investigators say the driver of the semi McFadden passed left the scene. They are trying to locate him as a possible witness.
