Two men have been arrested after three female students from the White Pine Elementary School in Burley reported attempted abductions.
According to the The Times-News, Cassia County School District spokeswoman Debbie Critchfield says the girls told school staff that they had been approached by a “strange man” who tried to lure them with candy Monday morning.
Cassia County Sheriff's Detective Kevin Horak says the men, later identified as Vadian Dougal and Melvin Simpson, approached one girl in a neighborhood as she was walking to school and approached two other girls near the buses on school grounds. He says the girl walking to school was grabbed by the arm, but kicked and got away from the man.
Dougal and Simpson were arrested Monday and charged with felony attempted kidnapping.
The School District alerted parents of the situation via social media, saying officials would be working to increase security measures.
