Treasure Valley man charged in the death of baby left in hot car

A man accused in the death of a baby that was left in a hot car is charged.

24-year-old Haven Hackworth is charged with involuntary manslaughter. Caldwell Police allege Hackworth left a 5 month old girl in a parked car last May. When officers and EMS arrived on scene the child was unresponsive.

Hackworth was arrested in Marsing with the assistance of the Owyhee County Sheriff’s Office.

“The investigators who worked this case would like to express their heartfelt empathy to all involved parties. This was a tragic incident that impacted and will continue to impact everyone who was involved,” said the Caldwell Police Department in a press release.

According to the website “kidsandcars.org” there has been 30 heat stroke related deaths in the United States for 2017 so far.
