It's back to school shopping time in the Treasure Valley, but some area parents lack the means to provide school supplies. That's why the Canyon County Fraternal Order of Police stepped in to help out.
Today, 34 children turned out to for the Second Annual Shop with a Cop event in Caldwell. Twenty police officers led the children on a shopping spree at the Walmart store on Cleveland Boulevard.
Caldwell Police Lieutenant Joey Hoadley was among those officers. He helped two young girls, Chloe and Yesenia, prepare for a successful school year.
"It not only benefits the kids to see we're human beings, as well, but it's good for the officers, as well, to see what we're out there working for," said Hoadley.
Of his shopping companions, Hoadly said, "They're great little girls, just sweet as can be, both of them, very appreciative."
The admiration was mutual. "Yeah, he's awesome!" Chloe remarked.
At the end of the day, the children were each allotted $175 for school supplies, clothes, shoes and other necessities.
