With the start of school just weeks away, one Boise teacher is accompanied by memories of years past as she readies her classroom.

Laurie Roberts, a senior English teacher at Timberline High School, has an entire wall and a half covered with messages and signatures from her former students -- about 1,000, give or take.

She says what started out as a way to decorate her classroom space back in 2010 has turned into a giant yearbook, with seniors signing the wall at the end of the school year.

"There are times in those first couple weeks of school where I don't really know my current students and I will look for comfort on my wall," Roberts said. "...and I'll think, 'It's going to be OK. Some day, these new students are going to know me like these guys did, and i t's all going to be fine.'"

Roberts says she's going to tell her students to make their messages more concise this school year, so that more can fit on the walls.
