BOISE — Extinction Rebellion Youth (XRY) Boise and Boise Sunrise Movement held yellow banners at Boise Depot Wednesday, voicing requests for newly elected officials to take action on environmental issues.

The two banners, “The Youth Stand With the Truth” and “Hey Biden, Green New Deal Now”, were meant to call these elected officials to take concrete action on the climate crisis to preserve the future.

XRY Boise said they want their youth voices taken seriously by the candidates, and the youth climate activists are pushing for a “livable” future.

The organizers are excited for an administration they say will listen to the voices of young people and will work hard to make sure “our country works for all people, regardless of age, race, ability, gender, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic status.”

The group had the capitol steps reserved for a virtual climate strike but canceled the event due to numerous Boise and state police safety concerns.
