Health experts say the current flu season here in Idaho is the third worst they've seen in more than 10 years, and it's not over yet.

56 people have died from the flu so far this season in Idaho. Randi Pedersen, the Idaho Influenza Surveillance Coordinator, says the season started off slow.

"We really didn't start to see a whole lot of influenza related deaths until later in the season when influenza AH3 was more commonly circulating, so it could certainly be related to the particular type of flu," Pedersen said.

The only higher numbers are from last year and the year before. Health officials say it's still not too late to get your flu shot if you haven't yet.

The flu season started last October and will run until the end of May.
