The north Idaho teen who ran away from home after his prom and went missing for days  has died in a car crash.

The Spokesman-Review reports 17-year-old Kristian Perez died at a Lewiston hospital after a crash Wednesday afternoon.

The Nez Perce County Sheriff's Office says the crash happened on Sunny Side Bench Road near Lenore.  They say the driver lost control of the car and rolled down an embankment.

Police searched for days after Perez didn't return home from the Orofino prom this weekend.  They found his tuxedo jacket and a broken cell phone near the vehicle of a relative who had taken him to the prom.

Days later, police received a tip Perez was at an Orofino home and found him in good health.  He faced charges of running away from home.  According to the Spokesman-Review the man whose home he was found in, 26-year-old Tyson Imel, was arrested for providing shelter for a runaway child.
