A teenage girl critically injured in a Monday car crash on State Street has died.
Her family is now hoping to prevent others from going through the same heartache.
Family members said Destiney Jacobs and three others were hospitalized Monday when the car they were in made a left-hand turn at what police believe was a blinking yellow light onto Park Lane and was t-boned by an oncoming truck.
Destiney died Wednesday.
Her heart was donated, but family members said traffic on State Street needs to change to prevent another family from sharing their pain.
"You have not just one school there but you have three all the way up to Linder, and there is no school zones, there is no caution signs, there is nothing," said Donelle Kenyon. "I think they need to take that light out and they need to put in a regular street light and they need to put up the school zones.
The family hopes the public will reach out to ACHD to let them know that changes should be made.
