The Bureau of Land Management partnered up with Team Rubicon this week to hold a wildland firefighter training academy at NIFC for Idaho's military veterans.

The training sessions helped to teach Team Rubicon members wildland fire suppression tactics such as communication techniques, fireline construction, and equipment operation.

The BLM has partnered with Team Rubicon because many of the skills veterans gain while serving in the military transfer to wildland firefighting.

The partnership also helps ease veterans into civilian life after completing their military service.

During 2015 and 2017's record-breaking fire seasons, trained veterans were deployed into incidents in several states to assist fire crews.
