It's officially tax season, and the government is urging everyone to file theirs ASAP.

Here's some tools that could help you get the biggest refund.

If you're self employed, Turbo Tax has a calculator to help you figure out your annual work-related expenses. It also has a calculator for claiming dependents, called the "Dependents Credits and Deductions Calculator." The calculator helps you figure out if you can actually claim someone.

If you have kids in college, there's an "Education Credits" calculator. The tool helps you find credits if you've been helping with tuition and college expenses or if you're paying off student loans.

You can use these calculators for free without filing with Turbo Tax, but filing your taxes through the site does cost money.

Make sure you fill out your paperwork as accurately as possible. Deductions, business expenses, and retirement account activity are all red flags.
