The Tamarack Homeowners Association is back in charge of the Tamarack Ski Resort. Today the group announced it's bought nearly all the surrounding properties. And it's ready to get the resort back on track.Tamarack Resort, was cut to pieces in a post bankruptcy scramble. But now all these years later, the group that kept the ski resort afloat through it all, has managed a nearly complete consolidation.
"This is really exciting day for Tamarack Homeowners," says Tamarack GM Greg Larsen, "They purchased the resort and homeowners association will be the new operator." They bought the resort from the bank consortium NEWTRAC which operated the resort for the last 18 months. Basically, they now own everything except the golf course and the village. But they have big plans for that.
"Now we can look for the right investors and developers to finish the real estate projects." says Larsen. If ever there was a financial mess to sort out, it was Tamarack Resort. Once billed as a top tier destination, it fell into bankruptcy in the great recession. And everyone wanted their cut. But the people who saved the resort are now in charge.
"The best part of this is the people who love the resort control the future." says Larsen. They have secured ownership of the mid-mountain lodge and the zip lines and chairlifts. And perhaps now, the resort can make it's final climb back to the pinnacle of US ski resorts.
