A man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting in Nampa is now behind bars in Yakima, Washington.

Nampa Police Capt. Curt Shankel said police recently received a tip that Jesus “A.J.” Avila may be in the Yakima area. “We found out where he was staying. With assistance from the U.S. Marshal’s Office and the Yakima Police, we put the house under surveillance and eventually arrested him without incident,” Shankel said.

Jesus “AJ” Avila was identified as an armed and dangerous suspect, following a fatal shooting in Nampa on June 22nd.

Ricardo Keith of Alabama was found dead inside his truck and police issued a first-degree murder ny robbery warrant for Avila’s arrest on June 23rd.

“We are very grateful to these agencies for capturing Avila where he had fled in Yakima, Washington. This arrest is another great example of the good working relationships that Nampa PD has developed with other law enforcement agencies,” Lt Skoglund said in a press release. “This case has been a high priority for our agency. Finding those who do this type of violence and holding them accountable is part of our mission to make Nampa an even safer community for those who work and live here."

Avila will likely be extradited back to Idaho.
